Bioclimatic architecture

For a comfortable and healthy home

The bioclimatic house is based on an optimization of the construction according to its environment so as to consume less while guaranteeing maximum comfort to the inhabitant.  

 

How to achieve it? Beyond a choice of perfectly insulating materials, the construction must take advantage of the geography of the place, to reduce its heating, cooling and lighting needs.

 

Sun  : Positioning of large openings in the South, and small ones in the North.

Accompanied by sun protection  which prevent overheating in summer.

Glazed surfaces allow natural light to enter the building, promoting

free heat gains in winter.

 

Wind  : Protection from cold winds by vegetation. A band of evergreen trees serves

protection against north winds  dominating which cool the atmosphere.

 

air exchange  : Regulation of the volume of air circulating in the house. To guarantee healthy and renewed air, the use of breathable materials such as cellular concrete coupled with an air extraction system allows the recovery of hot air from the house and the exchange of air between inside and outside. .

An ecological and economical construction

A building says "  passive  » is designed and built to consume a minimum of energy while providing a comfortable and healthy home.  Such a building must be very well insulated to prevent heat loss.

What are its energy sources?  In practice, the passive house must be self-sufficient for its heating needs. It uses solar gain and the heat released by human activity to generate a pleasant temperature. 

Under these conditions, an auxiliary heater such as a stove is sufficient to  ensure thermal comfort. A building labeled  passive  » is the guarantee of a healthy and pleasant interior, remaining temperate all year round, even in very cold or very hot seasons.

 

What savings does the passive house represent?  A passive house has a significantly lower operating cost than a traditional house, whether in terms of expenses related to heating or routine maintenance (expensive boiler to maintain, etc.).  

 

In a few figures: The savings made thanks to the passive system are very significant, the “passive” building spending 10 times less energy than a traditional building.

These energy consumption measurements are made for standard Cubeco houses. With the addition of solar panels, consumption is further reduced and allows the requirements of a passive house to be met.  (15 kWhEP/m2.year) see a positive house , ie producing more energy than it consumes.

In a few figures : Taking into account the cost of installation, green electricity  produced will cost approximately  0.06 € / kWh. This  which represents a reduction of 30% to 45% of your  electricity bill.

Green roof

A green roof  ecological  and  aesthetic

A green roof allows the storage of water, helps with thermal regulation and evapotranspiration of the air.

We propose  roofs  with vegetation selected to stimulate the biodiversity of your environment.

Why have  green roof? First of all to participate in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Moreover, the installation  makes it possible to increase the insulation of the roof, which moderates heat gains and losses and leads to energy savings.

In a few figures: Retention of rainwater up to 75%, which reduces runoff on the ground, the risk of flooding and erosion.

Resistant and respectful  biodiversity

Soil artificialization today poses a real ecological challenge by depleting groundwater and encroaching on agricultural land. The stake represents an alternative that respects nature and is less expensive.

 

Why build on piles? While providing solid and lasting foundations, the piles leave the ground permeable and do not disturb the ecosystems or the land on which the construction is placed. 

In addition, the piles allow us great speed of execution on any type of terrain and precise control over the quality of the foundations.  

 

What adaptability to the terrain? The piles allow room for maneuver by adapting perfectly to different types of soil and slight slopes.  

 

In a few figures: The price of the construction of foundations  concrete varies between 100 and 200 €/m3.

By replacing it with pile foundations, it becomes easy to make significant savings.

Collect your rainwater

A saving of resources 

In order to limit its ecological footprint and reduce these water bills, we offer the installation of a rainwater recovery tank.  

 

How does recovery work? The water from the roofs is collected in conduits transporting it to an underground storage tank. The tank connected to the water network of your house allows the reuse of this water after passing through a filter. The recovered water is redistributed in your toilets, the taps in your garden or even your washing machine.  

 

In a few figures: Knowing that a French consumer uses on average  150  200 liters of water per day  and the water budget for a four-person household is between €500 and €700 per year, harvesting rainwater is an alternative that saves 50  % of water consumption.

Heat in the pellet stove

Reduce your electricity bill while maintaining an optimal quality of life

Thanks to these insulating properties, a passive house has almost no need for heating. The pellet stove is an ecological, economical and easy to use auxiliary heater.  

 

What is a pellet stove? It is a heater that burns wood pellets (residue from sawmills) to heat your home.  

 

Why have one? This type of stove is one of the most economical and ecological existing heaters.

It provides even heat within the house, and coupled with a sensor wall evenly redistributes the heat at night, even if your stove is off!

 

In a few figures: They save 35% of your electricity bill, or €400/€600 per year. 

In addition, using a fuel such as pellets pollutes 5 times less than electricity (180g of CO2/1kWH against 33g of CO2/1kWH).

A simple and ecological garden solution

Recycling your waste in your garden is something more and more common today. This has three big advantages: it is an ecological solution, simple to carry out and economical.

 

What is composting? Home composting is  transform waste from the house and garden into natural fertilizer.

 

Why compost waste?  This makes it possible to obtain a quality amendment for the garden at no cost by dispensing with chemical fertilizers and thus eliminating pesticides .

In a few numbers :  Compostable waste represents more than 30  % of non-recyclable trash, home composting represents  an important issue in waste reduction.

Soundproofing 

Calm and serenity: improve your quality of life

sound insulation  of a dwelling makes it possible to avoid the propagation of noise coming from outside, but also between the different rooms of a dwelling.

 

Is cellular concrete a good acoustic insulator? 

The blocks used at Cubeco have a very good sound insulation factor (R), the open structure of cellular concrete allows it to absorb sound better than smooth materials.

 

In a few numbers :  Our 40 cm thick block masonry has a sound reduction factor Rw of approximately 55  dB. Very good insulation for such a light material, the sound reduction of a cellular concrete wall is up to 5  dB better than for equal mass (per m²) walls made of another material.

Under these conditions, a loud conversation (50 dB) will be completely absorbed and inaudible to the other side  from the wall. Also, any disturbing external noise of 70 to 80 dB such as a road  heavy traffic will be  perceived indoors as 25 dB noise  ie a whisper.
